PFC Lori Piestewa, a member of the 507th maintenance unit, was the first U.S. servicewoman killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lori, only 23 years old and a member of the Hopi Nation, leaves behind 2 children, aged 3 and 4. For many years, and probably still, American Indians have had the highest per capita volunteer service rate of any group in the U.S.
An account has been set up at Wells Fargo bank to receive donations for the family of Lori Piestewa. The account number is 0464633783 and checks should be made out to the "Lori Piestewa Memorial Fund." For more information, call 1-800-869-3557.
Also, a scholarship fund is being set up for Lori Piestewa's two surviving children. More information can be obtained from Aggie Jenkins, Business Office, Tuba City School District, 928-283-1001, extension 1010.

My strongest simpathies for these this brave, strong, amazing woman has left behind... I am so terribly sorry, I have no words for it. I feel so bad i can't do a thing to help her loved ones. But i'm for sure, her children will know what a great mother they have had.
"War is Hell"...
with great respect,
Leonie.
