yeah that white camouflage story was very interesting they weren't issued it but they used to take (steal) the white linen from the houses.

I can't remember where I read it, although I think it was Citezen soldiers by Stephen Ambrose, anyway one of the soldiers who did this was going to get reprimanded or court marshalled or something for it by an RMP (believe it or not). Then some superior officer found out and stopped it and praised him basically saying he deserved a medal.

Great story, theres a whole chapter if I remember crrectly about some of the shits in the forces during the war (black markets, scamming and other chickenshit), and a very interesting bit about the overzealousness of Patton. A good read I'd reccomend it. It's a bit more comprehensive though than BoB.
