Easy Company Medic Eugene Roe: The Mini Series: DVD Release - Nov. 5, 2002 - Ft. Hood, TX

November 5th, 2002 was the release date for the DVD/VHS. There were only two events nationwide: Ft. Hood, TX Ft. Hood and Pearl Harbor, HI. Two of the vets, Don Malarkey and J. B. Stokes and three of the actors, Ron Livingston, Frank John Hughes and Michael Cudlitz were at Ft. Hood. Only the actors went on to Pearl Harbor.

The signing was held at one of the two base PXs. We visited in the back of the PX (which is like a large department store) with refreshments and the vets and actors began signing for the PX staff.

By the time we arrived at the PX around 2:00 pm, the line had already started. There was a stage set up for everyone to pass by and get autographs. They signed for over 3 hours!! Col. Sink's great-nephew was one of those in the line, as he's stationed at Ft. Hood.

After the signing, we went to a hanger of the 21st Cavalry Brigade 21 Cav. Bgde. We had a BBQ buffet with MRE centerpieces. We sat with some soldiers from Holland who help train pilots back home. In the hanger were a Blackhawk helicopter and the newest version of the Apache, the Longbow.

The vets and actors signed more DVD's and posters for the men and women of the 21st. It was a fantastic day in all and everyone from HBO and Ft. Hood were great.

The 1st Cavalry has it's roots in Custer and the days of riding the horse into battle. Thus, the stetson hat and gloves and even the coveted spurs are still part of the uniform.
